Pola (Beata Pozniak), an energetic, strong and passionate student who is excited that the local Merchant Marine School has begun to finally accept women into the training program for sea captains. While eagerly preparing for entrance exams she meets a real captain who is planning to retire. As they are getting to know each other the captain (Jerzy Binczycki)  finds that he can relate to her more than to his own daughter.  He calls her his “Safe Harbor.”
