Libertas Foundation will be recognizing actors Micahel York, John Savage
and Beata Pozniak at the 14th annual St. Blaise fundraiser gala in Los Angeles. The Libertas Foundation is dedicated to raising money for charitable causes in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Dubrovnik, which was brutally shelled by Serbian attackers in the early 1990's, is protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site. York, Savage and Pozniak performed memorable roles in Brkusic's award-winning documentary, "Freedom From Despair," a film that critics say "masterfully" exposes the roots of the 1990's conflict in the Balkans. The three actors will be receiving Humanitarian "Croatian Heart"Awards for their participation in the film and their dedication to Croatian causes. Also in attendance for the awards ceremony will be the Croatian ambassador to the US, the Croatian Consul General of Los Angeles and the Croatian Minister of Culture, as well as prominent Hollywood filmmakers and guests.
